Hi, I want to build a yard shifter kart. I already have built a kart with a Predator 212 but I really want to convert it to a shifter kart. The frame is not bad so I am really just concerned about the engine. What engine would be best for a small yard shifter kart? I'm not looking for anything crazy. Maybe something around 6-10 hp. Only looking to go 30-45 mph. I was already thinking about a 125cc Honda engine but I'm not sure if that will be best.

80cc-125cc mounts for Honda’s bolt the engine to the plate then just give you standard clamps to the frame like Normal mounts used to put 5hp Briggs on real karts.
@Thepartsguy Where do you think is the best place to get a 125cc honda?

Roached out early CR with a 6 speed 80cc would be an absolute monster.. 5 speed out of a cr125 would be deadly.

Parts guy is wrong, the engine needs to be supported like it was still in the bike! If not then you’ll crack cases! Now ask me how I know.
