What controller should I get?

I have an old '80s fortress scientific mobility scooter, long story short, motor is good, but the controller and throttle is no good. It's a 24 volt system, but can't find any thing on the motor telling me the wattage. Was planning on turning it into kinda a trike (already 3 wheels) that goes 5 mph or so for the kids. Will just use 2 car batteries to power it. We have another one like it, but it works, and have had good luck with using the car batteries to make it work.

I would go with a universal 24 volt 500 watt speed controller like used on scooters & E-bikes.

It can handle like from 200 watt to 500 watt motors

I think that the motors on most scooters & mobility scooters fall within this range.

There are many available anywhere from ~$15.00 to ~$100.00 depending on what & where.

Here is one that comes with a twist throttle that has a 5 led power display & a key for like $20.00 (Hong Kong)

Cool! I'll go with that. I've never done much with "bigger" electric stuff, so I thought I'd ask, cause I'm certainly no expert. I just bought an electric 2 wheel scooter though, and it's kinda renewed my interest in electric stuff.

I have found used scooters for cheap (like $40.00) usually needing fresh batteries.

I have used them to make several karts for my kids.
