Hi everyone!

I'm in the planning stages of building a electric go kart for my 12 year old daughter. The intent here is that she starts to race go karts competivily.

I was perusing this forum last night and I found a reference to a rule in electric go kart racing that the karts need to be 24v, (sorry, I can't find the post right now).

Does anyone know anything about this and is the any list of rules for a electric go kart? I'm assuming that the frame specs are the same as for a gas powered kart. Also is there a limit on the kw that the motor can produce?

Thanks!

Each racing series has rules of course,
if you want to know the rules for a specific series, you'll need to ask the organisation in charge.
Easiest way: go to a race, talk to the racers or officials.
They'll at least tell you where to find the rule book if not hand you one.

24V is a bad limit for racing series tbh
it calls for some serious amps on higher power motors
a high Voltage and lower Amps is much easier [well cheaper let's say] to control.
60, 72, 96 and even 144 Volts are not uncommon to keep the amperage down on motors upwards of 5kW.

Anyways, to know for sure ask the ones in charge.
