About myself: Power electronics engineer, been doing this for such a long time it's not a hobby any more.
I'm trying to help a friend with a problem. Because I don't do the hobby thing any more, all I have is a multi-meter and soldering iron to fix various things, but no more sophosticated test equipment. And zero experience with Vevor motors and controllers.
So I would like to tap on the collective knowledge here as a possible quick way of finding the answer. Apologies if this is not the right form for this, if so, point me to the right place and I will repeat the query there.
My friend has a double set of Vevor 2kW 48V motors, rated at 4,300rpm, each with controller. The problem is he can't get more than about 1600rpm out of these. Both are reacting exactly the same. They are run independantly.
This is what happens:
Power is tuned on, throttle is maxed and the motor spins up at no load, and at about 1600rpm it starts chattering and sounding just like a dry bushbearing. But I think what is happening, the controller seems to be limiting the speed at about 1600rpm and cutting back on the speed.
I have done some online reading and youtubing, and I see there is a 3 speed connector. We have tried different combinations to see if that would make a difference but no joy.
Is there something here that jumps out at you? I would love to hear some experience talking (*experience trumps book learning).
