Well...I decided....(against popular opinion and my better judgement) ...to go get some bourbon.....

Now....I don't trust myself once I start sipping that....so I try to buy in small quantities so I can regulate the intake......

Sooooo.I ask for 2 half pints...then...after paying for them, I decided that that was just ridiculous....I needed pints.....

Sooooo....I say I want to swap these off for pints....now....TOTAL CONFUSION! !!! WAIT!!!!! SAY WHAT?????

Now the checker has to get someone else to solve this problem....despite the fact I was very clearly trying to explain the EXTREMELY SIMPLE SOLUTION....but...SHE JUST WOULDN'T LISTEN! !!!

Sooooooo.....enter Mensa #2.....she's more lost than the first....BECAUSE SHE WOULDN'T LISTEN!!!!! I had $5.40 sitting on the counter....she did some complicated math and was trying to give me change....I said: "No...this is really simple....look at the recipient....."

"No...I've done the math....the difference is $5.40-$3.80 I owe you $1.60.... and proceeded to try to give me change!!!!!

I said: " Would you please just stop and listen a minute....that's my change sitting there....in otherwords...you will be PAYING ME FOR MY PURCHASE! !!"

Ok....soooo...brace yourselves....she says:" Why didn't anybody tell me that.....:censored::censored:.....Really....you dumb :censored:.

Soooo....here's how simple this was.....how simple I made it...and why sometimes people need to STFU and listen.....there's (2) 1/2 pints of bourbon sitting on the counter.....next to a receipt for EXACTLY the same amount of cash that's on the counter next to it....NOW!!!! Is that so tough? REWIND!!!!!!!!! Just negate that purchase and ring up the new one like nothing ever happened! !!!!!

I mean REALLY? ???? You've got to be kidding me!!!!! A receipt next to the merchandise next to the exact amount of cash on the receipt....and....we're trying to figure out the difference between that and the new purchase? ???

Can anyone here figure out how to solve this difficult problem....????

EDIT: I stated this wrong....the first checker had refunded what I paid....

Three people check into a hotel room. The clerk says the bill is $30, so each guest pays $10. Later the clerk realizes the bill should only be $25. To rectify this, he gives the bellhop $5 to return to the guests. On the way to the room, the bellhop realizes that he cannot divide the money equally.

As the guests didn't know the total of the revised bill, the bellhop decides to just give each guest $1 and keep $2 as a tip for himself. Each guest got $1 back: so now each guest only paid $9; bringing the total paid to $27.

The bellhop has $2. And $27 + $2 = $29 so, if the guests originally handed over $30, what happened to the remaining $1?

Umm, what? You're trying to add a deficit.

Of the 30, 25 goes to the hotel, 3 is returned, and 2 is stolen by the bellhop. 25(cost)+3(returned)+2(stolen)=30(paid).

Or you can say that yes, they paid 27. For a 25 dollar room. The bellhop stole the extra 2.

In one way, I'm glad you brought that up, my late father used to tell this one all the time but I had forgotten the details...

He knew lots of these; as an accountant, I suppose one would pick them up along the way...

Having said that, :backtotopic:

I took the little princess out on Sunday (it was Fathers Day here) & we ended up at McDonalds for lunch; it took 3 girls 2 attempts to order a cheeseburger happy meal with apple slices & a strawberry shake plus a cheeseburger & a medium OJ before the manager stepped in; Seriously, it's not rocket science!

We did get a free Sundae out of it though...

I do believe this is the 3rd or 4th time Poboy has posted on this topic of Cashiers being "tremendously stupid". It is either
A. Texans are that stupid! or
B. Poboy is as difficult in real life as he is online.
Hopefully he does not drink all that Bourbon then respond to us.

BTW: There is no correct answer to the hotel riddle. Other than why are 3 men checking into 1 room?
