Trailer Spare Wheel Carrier

I then cut off the excess & drilled a 1/8" hole across each end of the main shaft about 3/4" from each end.

I happened to find a couple of "R" clips laying around last week & decided to utilise one for this project; that's what the holes are for.

When it's extended, the clip goes through the tube & rod to fix them together. When it's not in use, the tube slips over the rod & lock in place so it fits in the toolbox on the front of the trailer.

As a finishing touch, I welded a short piece of tube to the frame to act as a guide for easy, one handed operation
