I have a small go kart frame with a 8hp b and s and the throttle cable snapped. What do I need to do/ order? Just started working on go karts so I'm not very knowledgable yet lol

Throttle cables are pretty universal. Take yours off, measure the length, order one the same......
Please fill in your location.....

Yeah, it's pretty simple.... Look at how the old one is before you take it off. Take a pic of both ends with your phone, for future reference. Then disassemble, and reassemble.....

Recycle and use throttle cable?

A mechanic told me I could use my snapped throttle cable and just alter it instead of buying a new one? Is that possible or should I just buy a new one

depends.

sometimes there's enough left to just reuse it, sometimes it's possible to just add a connector of some sort to reuse it.

personally, I think buying a new cable is quicker, easier and more reliable in the end *shrugs*

Also, I measured my throttle cable and I was wondering.. Do I go by the length of the metal cable itself or how long the rubber tube that Incases it is? Probably a stupid question I just don't wanna order the wrong thing

You can buy a kit of like 6 various sizes at walmart in the bicycle section for $7. You can cut both the cable and the housing to size.

Throttle cable

For my go kart throttle cable can I just order more wire for my rubber housing and cut it to size? Instead if ordering one

Maybe, maybe not. Depends if your housing is messed up. Are you going to enter your throttle housing into a build off?

Ok then you should post in the general discussion section instead of the build off entry section :p

Adamz28... even in a forum for go karts, there are rules to abide by. I am aware that not everyone follows the rules, and there even those that get away w/ it consistently, even after repeated warning(tweettweet), but nonetheless, the lacking of following rules, puts one in a non-documented, fowl category(for those that 'could' help)... due to the controversy of the name of the category... I am not allowed to 'say'... but take my word for it, it's not a category you'd wanna fall under. If you cant understand that... think of things this way... this is NOT your page(nor mine)... this is robertdjung's site. Pretend, you have walked into his house, and have been handed a set of rules to abide by inorder to stay in the house/receive the help you are wanting... The rules were not set to cause problems, nor to be ignored. Yes, there are 'other' kart forums... and 'they' may not have the 'rules' as we do here... but nonetheless... the rules are quite simple, and if they cant be followed, then you 'shouldnt' be allowed to post(even though... like I said... there are afew that get away w/ it... for unknown reasoning's).

So... plz fill out your profile, stop w/ the reposts... 'learn' how to use the forum, and join the 1000's of others that have done so, and received the help/info they looked for... and will continue to, so long as the 'rules' are followed...
