Hi! I came across this page looking for help rebuilding/restoring a 2001 Manco Deuce that my father bought for my brother and I as a Christmas gift from Tractor Supply. Ran great until the electric starter went out on the Techmseh 12hp and then the recoil rope pull broke and wasn’t able to find a replacement for it. Has been sitting for about 15 years but is complete. I plan on replacing the engine with something similar (maybe predator 420cc) and replacing wheels, tires, and shocks, and adding a light bar. Hoping that some of the members on here can direct me in the right direction! I’m looking forward to joining the helpful community here!

Thanks,

Lee

Hahaha thanks for the laugh Denny! Does anybody know what it takes to swap the original tecumseh for one of the harbor freight 420cc engines?

They are both big blocks I believe? If it is true then it should bolt right up. If not break out the welder!

Glad you got a chuckle, that’s what I was going for.

Okay awesome. I would prefer to not have to weld/modify anything if possible, but not afraid to do that if necessary. So I would like to replace the shocks as well. Any advice on where to find them?

Worst case scenario, you might have to modify the engine mounting slots a little bit. Shouldn't be a difficult swap.
