Some stupid lady drove into the back of me this morning on the way to work!!!!:mad2::mad2::censored::censored::censored:

Here I am minding my own business on my motorbike. I stop behind a car waiting for traffic to get moving again, then BAMM!!! She rearends me. Luckily she was going pretty slow, so I didn't get thrown off or anything. It looks like there is not much damage. My licence plate and mudflap got bent up over the back wheel, but that was about it. I will go to the bike shop and get a quote to fix it. At least she has insurance. Insurance isn't manditory here like it is in the States.

The woman apologised profusely, but hey....she is still an idiot. She was driving a Nissan Xtrail, and my frame that holds my box onto the bike did some serious damage to her bonet. DEEP scratches. She will probably have to get it replaced. :D

Whats wrong with people nowadays? Don't they look where they are going?? :mad2:

Have a look at the pic of her bonnet!! You can see there is not much damage to my bike. In the pic I had already pullet the licence plate & mudflap back off the top of the back wheel where it had been pushed up.

MAN did you get lucky! Hmmm- I wonder if she was texting or yattering away on the phone...

Insurance isn't mandatory there? So- if she had hit you without insurance, how would your damages be handled? what about if you got hurt and needed medicall care or lost time off work? How is that handled over there?

The only compulsory insurance we have here is third party (if a passenger gets injured, etc). If the party at fault has no insurance, the other party's insurance company will hunt them down which, sometimes, ends up in court.

Make sure you point out the dent in the muffler Paul... :D

That is pretty much it here. If this lady didn't have insurance, and they were not able to pay the damages, then it is tough luck for me. We don't even need that third party insurance here. If someone is injured, you go to a government hospital (you don't want that) if you don't have any medical insurance. If you take time off work, you had better be sure that you have some sort of insurance that would cover you for that

also if u get hit and the incedent wasnt black and white in the law then the other persons insurance company can case u down and make u pay up, which is an issue if u dont have any insurance
even if it was the other persons fault
they will case u down as they know u are more likely to take the loss than fight a large company in court

it happened to the other apprentice at work
T boned a pickup after it cut him off at a roundabout

Sounds like a lot of sticky situations could arise if everyone doesn't have insurance.

I'm glad you are ok. Usually any incident involving a motorcycle ends up poorly for the motorcycle...
