Turned 50 this year and wanted to get some projects done for a change. Lots on my agenda and doing good so far. Want to make a go kart for myself and for a project I am working on.

Not too mechanically inclined although I do work on my pressure washing equipment from time to time (my biz) and I can keep them running most of the time.

I will try to read first and ask questions later. I know people don't like to keep repeating themselves with answers to the same questions time and again.

Looking forward to being here and meeting some of you guys.

Steve

Yeah welcome Steve.

If your going to use one of your pressure washer engines, make sure its output shaft (pto) is the non-tapered type, and that it also has a threaded hole at the end. Many Pressure washer engines have these tapered shaft designs and you'll find you wont be able to mount any standard clutches, Torque converters or drive gears.

The type engine you'll want to use will have its PTO shaft machined where its 3/4" (or 1") all the way across, and not tapered to get smaller at the end.

Great. I would not have known that until after I tried to unsuccessfully do it. I think my engines are the non-tapered type. All are Honda engines so maybe that is standard with them. They all have a hole on the end of the shaft as I have had to change the pumps on all of them at least once.
