I figured i would start this thread for 2 reasons. One being maybe i can get a few suggestions on what to try to do next and the other to get/give some ideas for maintenance.
Today i set up the shed up as a little shop.My old azz snowblower that had been not running for 10 years and sitting outside rotting for 15 got a new life 3 years ago.was running good until last snow storm.I figured i would just go through it.
Problem-Sprong for tensioner pulley for the drive system was Garry H'd.It was running for 5 min and shutting off.Kept starting it but only ran for 1 min and shutting off again.
List of things i did.Heres a pretty good list of things to check and things to do to make sure u can count on it when you need it.As much as i would like to think i can take something apart and put it together by memory alone sometimes i cant.I take some pictures and put parts on cardboard or plywood and label what they are and where they go.I also have the original book.Reading that thing sometimes is like reading Greek.Good luck with this snow and keep ya stuff properly maintained.
1)Took carb off,inspected & cleaned it.
2)inspected fuel lines.
3)Took pull start shroud off and installed new prime line and checked prime bulb.
4)Checked drive system belt that i replaced last year.
5)Put new spring on drive system tensioner pulley.(pain in the azz )
6)Put new auger belt on.
7)Fixed starter set-up(was missing a bolt).
Kinda fixed starter push button box.
9)Greased chain and lubed springs and all other moving parts.(do not get overspray on belts).
10)Filled tires.(old tires lose air after every use)
11)Cleaned plug(should have re gapped or replaced).
12)Took gas tank off and inspected for cracks.
Like i said before i am still having problems keeping it running.I think i eliminated most of the possibilities and will try again tomorrow.Good luck and be safe out there.
