Question:
Let me ask you, did they show up at your house and demand to inspect your industrial small engines?
Answer:
No I seriously doubt it.
Question:
Are they requiring any kind of state or federal annual EPA emission testing on any industrial small engine not for highway usage?
Answer:
No, However many states do require annual EPA emission testing on any vehicle registered for highway usage i.e. trucks, cars, motorcycles, and 18 wheeler rigs.
Farm equipment, lawn equipment, chain saws, weed eaters, snow blower, go karts, mini bikes, and any other such equipment are exempt from annual EPA emission testing an any state AFAIK. I've have never heard of anyone having to take a go kart or a lawn mower to get an annual EPA emissions test.

I was 100% correct when I stated MFG's must meet at least minimal federal EPA emission levels or they can not sell the engine or equipment in the United stated period.
When you buy said equipment you can modify it however you want, why? because at this point in time annual emission testing IS NOT REQUIRED on these type of engines after the end user buys them.

Yes our federal government is frivolous with their spending, but it would take billions of dollars and massive man power to enforce such a low.
Believe me or not if you choose, but the federal government could give a squirt of pizz , how or why you would modify a small industrial engine for non highway usage.

I read an article a while back that did a breakdown on the emission from a standard modern car engine versed a standard modern small engine and the math worked out to the standard small industrial engine put out 16 time the emissions per gallon of gas consumed than the car did. now ask yourself this, assuming those figures are remotely correct, don't you think if the federal government were concerned with small engine emissions, there would already be laws in place requiring YOU the end user to have said such engine emission tested every year, and some sort of of certification issued each year for said such engine, as they do in most states for vehicles for highway usage?

Now that I have stated the obvious with logic, I challenge anyone in this forum to prove otherwise.

Until any law goes in effect requiring emission testing on non highway usage engines, nobody from the EPA or any branch of the federal government is going to show up at your house, or place of business demanding to preform emission testing on your non highway use industrial small engines.

I moved this thread to the "Off Topic" subcategory, as I don't believe it belongs in the "Building Plans And Advice" category. Someone else may delete. And I wouldn't blame him...

Thats ok, I am making this a bike vs. kart poll. It will be moved to the engines section.
