Retiring from building

Well after years of health issues and bodily abusive jobs its time to give in and move on. So on top of bad heart, emphysema, diabetes, continuos torn ligament in foot I now have arthritus, herniated disks and some stenosis crap all in my lower back. 3 weeks now barely moving or bending too far without almost screaming. Pain management time.
Now i will concentrate on the 3 different scale sizes of my trains.

I will be going thru all my stuff and posting some for sale, not gonna look for much $. All will be posted here first before attempting screwbay.

I know the feeling of "it now takes me all day to do what I used to do all day" if you know what I mean, once upon a time it was "I can knock that out in ten minutes", now it takes that long just to reach your workshop...

It's always a sad day when someone who has always done physical work can no longer carry on with what they enjoy but, as these ^^^ guys pointed out, unless you have severe arthritis in your hands, you should still be able to type

Dang that sucks. Speaking of trains, I had 2 HO scale sets when I was young, think both were Lionel. One was Santa Fe (before it became BNSF) and the other was Union Pacific. Wish I still had them. HO is my personal favorite...not to large or small. Just wish when I was younger, I didn't crank up the speed so much and the train flew off the track and onto the concrete basement floor.

Original plan was to also make to scale working lights, houses, and bridges, rather than the plain boring uninspired stuff. Hope you can continue hobbies that you love, one way or another.

As a carman I tend to like train stuff myself. I'd like to see your train projects too. I would kinda like to build a train kart and ride on some abandoned track. I feel for ya with the health issues. My father has gone thru **** himself over the last 9 years from allergys to everything to his broken vertebrae shifting cause his discs are gone. Now he had a nerve released in his shoulder and now his hand is numb. He lived 22 years pain med free with a spiral cracked L2 and L4 vertebrae. But now pain management is needed. It's had me worried myself about how he is gonna proceed.

Very sorry to hear about your situation.

Were all gettin' older & a little slower.

Stay as far away from Opiates as you can.

We have an epidemic of Opiate addiction & overdoses, here in Ohio, from pain management doctors over prescribing (getting people addicted then cutting them off because their addicted & then many turning to Heroin as a cheap substitute.

If I may make a suggestion, for your pain management & quality of life, look into Cannabis (even if your already familiar, do more research) there's much more to it than just "getting high"

At one time it was the most prescribed medicine in the US.

Google RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) for even more info.

Ohio has just passed legislation to make Cannibis accessible to help many conditions.

Most important keep on keeping on (as much as you can) & stay in touch with family & friends.

and dependent on the least amount of meds possible!

well... I wish you a full recovery of course, but your post doesn't sound too optimistic to see that happening any time soon

as much as we like your builds,
your knowledge will still be very much appreciated around here.

And if possible keep what's dear to your heart as long as you can,
as a memorabilia perhaps, as a gift to someone you love one day... you know...

This is insane, 2 of mine are just started basically and the other 2 are planned.
One is a outdoor g-scale garden train with remote control features and the other is my O-scale which will be on a shelf going around my apartment right below the ceiling.

Thanks, my granddaughter who is 6 now has been helping me build karts and mini bikes for 3 years now. She has her own train layout too that we are doing building lighting on next. I am so happy she picked up shares the same interests as me. Probably because of being the closest to her and the only one that does stuff with her compared to her piece of $&&+ mother and psycho grandma.
At least i know if somethig tragic were to happen she would continue with learning and building train layouts.
