razor go kart batteries

I just got a razor go kart (ground force I think) that I was told had new batteries. Turns out they were new LAST year.

Put it on the charger, charges for an hour then green light. Only moves 1mph.

I took both batteries out and put both on my 12v charger (to rule out the stock charger) both charged for about 1 hour. Both read 12.8v

are both dead? I know it should read 13-13.2v when fully charged, but they should be viable if not below 12v right?

Is there any chance to save them?

I know this does not help but that is precisely why I put 79cc Predators on my Razors!
Anyway The best place I found to get new Batteries for these is a place called Battery sharks . com. Google it. They do sell "razor replacement batteries" but any 12v SLA battieries will work and they are cheaper, at that point I also increased the AH (amp hour)from the stock 7 to 12. This gives you more run time. The batteries are just a little larger and barely fit.
Hope that helps. In my opinion it sucked having to buy batteries but I tried to look at it this way in the long run it is about the same as buying gas constantly for a gas kart.

yeh, I know I can get 12ah batts for $50 a pair. It is just that with all the power wheels Ive been getting used that have dead batts, they either don't read any voltage at all, or read below 12v. For them to read 12.8v but not have any capacity is odd.
nice to know that 12ah batts can fit. If I do buy replacements, would certainly rather have more runtime.

The batteries are capable of reading over 12v after being charged but once a load is put on them its just gonna die. Yes your batteries are shot

I had a Razor buggy. Just measure and see what will fit yours. 10ah, 12ah... 15ah.

I just bought 2 7ah from chromebattery for $28 shipped.
They are going in a ground force drifter that I found last week.

that is what the stock ones were. Sad thing is the previous owner spent $70 last year for replacements. I spent $27 shipped for the pair

larger ones might have fit, but I was short on funds and my son would rather have 30 minute runtimes than not be able to use it at all. It is supposed to run 40 min per charge. That is longer than the attention span of my son.
