Today’s episode of Hacks garage is a pubic service message actually a product review and tip. Above is link to a muffler l found on eBay.
It arrived today and l gave it a quick inspection.
I actually am impressed with a product AND it was on flee bay.
My extensive search for a proper small injun muffler proved there 2 types of mufflers available for small injuns.
1. The usual Chinese glass pack stuff.
2. Insanely expensive “special mufflers”
(See description 1)
This shall be phase 1 of our product review.
Phase 2 will be actual sound testing.

The ad says made in ‘merica and that part is obvious. It has quality that ya can actually see and feel. This is well made, steel, welded, baffled, spark arresting sound reduction device.
Small and free flowing it looks like the perfect solution for a mini bike, or other applications where space is at a premium.

Stay tuned for sound testing in the next episode.

Today’s episode of Hacks garage

Looking forward to the review. There’s been a rash of ‘Quite Muffler’ threads on here over the years with no real resolution. 10+ years ago there was basically nothing available except the usual or things you’d have to really hack and modify to utilize.

I hereby propose renaming thread to Hack’s Garage. All in favor, say aye.
Looking forward to 50 more pages of …stuff 🏆

All this BS has been goin on since the last trip of the year is over and we’re getting things prepared for winter.
The Chain and CVT had failures the received a little extra attention.
During the whole process I took a video.
If ya have never seen one work ya might find it interesting. I know why ya don’t see videos like this, lt was no fun running beside the kart while holding the phone still.

due to overwhelming demand from 50% of my fans (post 990) Project Stoopid has been retitled Hacks garage! The new title better covers the vast array of different Hack projects we design and build.
Thank you both for your support!

Agriculture Motorcycles. I don't believe that I have ever heard of such a contraption. In closed chains ?

Or Farm Bikes. I wouldn’t mind one, for the ultimate in utility  but they’re sold in Australia and in third world areas. Seems like a real SHTF bike with unusual features. Some have two side stands, one on the left and one on the right (depending on what side of the grassy slope you park it on). 🤓

The brochure is amazing. More than half of those features I’d want on a regular dual purpose bike. Wide petrol tank with a flat top? Hell yeah.

"Full-chain case with dust cover and guard. To eliminate problems caused by mud and other materials from clogging the chain, and to prevent dust and dirt from entering the engine-drive portion, a full chain-case with front dust cover has been added. And to protect the chain case, a chain-case guard has been included."

On this episode of Hack's Garage, the exciting results of our exhaust comparison test!
The competitors are the US made AR mini muffler and the everyday Chinese Glass pack.
Our test procedure was chosen according to the equipment available while appearing to know what the f... I'm doing.
Trying to be scientific about as much as possible. At MTL we rely on science daily, but usually of the SWAG variety.
Muffler 1 is the mini:
IMG_5992.JPEG

Test results are
Minimum 83DBI - Maximum 118DBI

Next up is the chinese glass pack.
Yeah its onna different machine, but same thing. Phoney carbon fiber heat shrink junk that turns color, looks burnt and probably falls off.

surprizing this thing was a bit quieter than the baffled mini.
At this point the whole thing went south and the files wont load up so all ya get is one actual video.
Bottom line is there is really no difference between 'Em.
muffler 1 the baffled mini is 83DBI at idlle and 118 DBI
The glasspack 82DBI @ idle and 115 DBI max.
So much for science this bullshyt consumes way too much time,
We will keep science to the SWAG method from here on.
If you were looking for quieter muffler, keep looking, this aint it!

you are correct, You are obviously a bigger nerd than I.
l was working with a 440 yagi that l bought yesterday. Been screwing with that for a few hours today. Thats where DBI came from. I there is not much l can keep straight lately.
The sound meter app thing clearly says DB.

Nice. What antenna?

Ive got a 10 and a 21 element beams for 2m/440. I don't have them up cause I can hit the repeater with a rubber duck.

Ive been wanting to get my tower up for a while now. Fold over 40'. Can't decide if I want to put the 5 element 10m or the 3 element 10-40m.

For now I have a 20/40m inverted V fan dipole and an astroplane for 11m.

At a huge risk of being completely humiliated for blatant ignorance, what is a " yagi "?
That thing you bought yesterday.
