Hello all, I am working on my first Go Kart build. I used the GHOST predator 212cc. I am currently configuring my fuel tank, and I have a few questions about fuel delivery:

* Do I need a pulse pump with this motor? Or can I simply mount the gas tank higher than the carb, and have the fuel gravity fed? -

* (If I don't need a pulse pump) are there any performance concerns by not using one? (anyone ever experience running the bowl dry by not using a pulse pump?) -

* (If I do need a pulse pump, does anyone have a pump brand/type to recommend? I plan to only use the stock carb.

This is my first post, so I have been reading many different threads on the website but couldn't find the answer to these questions I had

There are too many variables in this formula for a real answer.
so, maybe, probably, l dunno.
Those pumps are not difficult to install. Try it without, if it doesn't work add a pump.
The higher the bottom of the fuel tank is from the carb, the better chance of it working.
Use the biggest fuel supply line possible.
l have a big block engine in a heavy pig, and fuel supply is gravity fed, through a filter and it runs fine, without a pump.

Gravity feed is a good and reliable way to feed the carb. Fuel pumps cause as much trouble as they solve sometimes. KISS, keep it simple stupid, is step one in engineering something.

Listen to Denny. Gravity, with the normal sized fuel line (3/16" or 1/4") will give you all the fuel that engine needs.

If you look at black66 videos on youtube, you'll find many answers to some questions you have and some you may not have known you wanted to ask :)
Red beard garage also gives some visual insight to these basic engines.
We use Mikuni pulse pumps for Tarmac racing go karts, these take the pulse from the inlet manifold. a return feed is sent back to the tank with a plastic pipe clamp to adjust the fuel pressure to suit the carb.

But if your Predator has a ghost, you have bigger problems. You may want to call a priest and have an exorcism. Unless the ghost’s name is Casper. He’s ok.
