Are these good frames? I'm wanting to do a drag mini bike build and would like some feedback... value, quality, etc... I am planning to modify the frame quite a bit, but it could be a good base to start with. Perhaps a used frame would be best? Don't think it's cost effective to buy a tubing bender that's twice the cost of a complete frame...

Doesn't seem like many people are into the drag bikes much these days from what I can see....

Thanks

I’ve had both. Would buy them again also. Rick the owner has always helped me a lot. My bikes are also showcased on his website. Or go to my profile. My nitro 44 still holds the 1/8 mile record in Oklahoma. For a few years running with a mild 420cc. I have YouTube videos of the nitro 44 build from start to testing also. Any help I can assist just ask me.

Hi I built a drag bike with the nitro 50 frame. You can see the bike if you go back one page (new mini bike build). I have upgraded the build but have not posted it yet. I'm planning on doing another build with a nitro 50 frame.

I've seen your videos/build Joe! Very sweet bike... Your videos actually inspired me to build one.

Pearl, I'll go check it out for sure!

I'm guessing that the 50 is a stronger design due to the double upper tubes compared to the 44 with the single 1.25" tube? I think the 44 would be easiest for me to modify, and I could always tube gusset the frame up.

I'm also not a small person (or short) so I may need to change the frame design a little bit so I can fit on it easier...

Also, what's the biggest slick you can stuff on the back? I'm planning on an 18x8 rear tire and a 10" pocket rocket front wheel.... I can always open the frame up and machine my own axle if I need to.

Thanks!

Junior dragster tire won’t fit if you want brakes and a sprocket. Need to run a smaller tire.

I used the 15x7-8 Hoosier mini cup tire with a Douglas matching rim and 4x4 bolt pattern hub. This is in the nitro 50 fyi. The 44 i had a shifter kart tire and wheel.

Interesting! Ok, that makes sense. I'll have to get the frame and see what I can figure out.... I have a full machine shop/TIG welder and CAD/CAM I can use, so the sky (and my budget) is the limit. :wai:

15" wouldn't be bad though...

Joe-405 I 'm sorry if I'm not supposed to ask this question in this post. Joe what is the width 5",6" or 7" of your 8" Douglas 4x4 rim for the 15x7-8 mini cup tire? This is the setup I have been looking everywhere for my nitro 50 build. Thanks ( I apologize again if this is the wrong place)

Ordered the Nitro 44 frame, so hopefully I will be able to get the build going after the frame is built/shipped, etc.

Ordered a few other parts for it as well!
