How's it going everyone? Just wanted to say howdy and glad to be here. Excited to chat and soak up some knowledge.
My story is fairly new I mean I rode go kart alot as a kid but atvs took their place. Within the last year I've gotten back into Karting. I was messing around on YouTube and seen some drift trike videos and decided to build one. My boss had an old go kart that hadn't been run in years and ask me if I wanted it. Of course I did it had a honda gx340 and would make a good start to the trike I wanted to build. Bought me a live axle kit and built me a trike. Had alot of fun with it but living in the country I found out it wasn't practical. So I took the motor and axle off of it and what was left of the 2 seater go kart that I cut up to make the trike and made me a one seater go kart.
Now it's an addiction. Not sure where it'll end ive removed the gov, jetted the carb, new high flo air filter, billet rod and fly wheel, heavier valve springs and built the exhaust pipe. Just got the motor back together a few days ago. This thing is wicked fast with the 40 series torque a verter. Now to change weights and springs and dial it in. Sorry about this novel I just wrote I get excited lol.

Welcome! WoW, someone doing the right thing with the engine. Building it, and doing it all the right way. Congratulations. Wait until you install the lighter weights and stiffer springs. Careful with your ears, because the smile it's going to put on your face is going to go from one to the other, and maybe a little more. They really wake up the 40 series drivers.

Should I get the medium springs or the heavy springs to go with the light weights. I just got the tach/hr meter hooked up haven't even had a chance to run it to see if I wrapped it enough or to much to see if it's accurate. But I know it'll turn some rpm's

Where I bought mine ( OMB Warehouse ) they only offer one choice of each. Springs red, and weights medium. That's how they are advertised anyway. So I was not aware of a 2nd choice. Specs say using their parts raises the engagement rpm from 1400 to 2600. I don't have a teach on that kart ( or any of the others ) . What I can tell you is that on this particular kart, running a 301 cc Predator, with everything done to my engine that you have done to yours, except for an mild aftermarket cam and some head work ( milled .050" and ported ) it felt like I had picked up an extra 6 or 7 horse power. No only does it leave a LOT harder from a dead stop, but it picked up 4 to 6 mph on the top end. Best single modification I have ever done to any of them.

Funny how we all modify differently. On my 301 I kept stock internals. Decked the head .040, port and polished. A real carb and open exhaust. Added adjustable timing. Got it all tuned and it's a perma-grin monster. I drilled some extra preload holes in the driven of my 40 to make shifting delayed. I rely on the valve float to keep rpms under grenade mode.
It's a fun tire fryer.

I haven't went that far yet. As far as milling the head but it's within the for seeable future. This 340 is almost 20 years old it's survived my boss man's 3 youngens. Which are all grown now. The cart was a big 2 seater with a roll cage and 1in solid axle. I seen it everyday for about 3 to 4 years rusting away. I rescued it well I cut it up and made a drift trike out of it then when all the fun was had with that I took what was left of the frame and roll cage and built a single seater. The joker is what I call it cause I painted it florescent green and purple. But all I did was clean the carb when I got it home and got the trike ready. It fired up on the 1st pull. It's surprised me with all the hell those boys put it thru. The only reason I rebuilt it is cause to much is never enough. And know that I know how easy and cheap they are to put together it's all over but the crying. .. lol20241101_213227.jpg
