It’s almost the most fun you can have with your clothes on! If you air down the tires a little bit it makes it easier on our old bones! Or go to a bigger tire.

Welcome! Sounds like you've got it down now! Glad you've got it driving.
I think it's funny that your 67 years old. I'm 62 now, never had a go kart or mini bike as a kid. I remember trying to make one out of 2x4's and a lawn mower engine. I've had motorcycles and 4 wheelers now, but never any of the things I dreamed of as a youngster. Go karts seem more personal than a store bought 4 wheeler. there's so much you can do to them. So what's the average age around here? I keep telling my wife I'm not the only one.

You’re right we’re mostly old farts trying to re-live our child hoods. I’m 56 and a few are in their 70s. Believe it or not we outnumber the young kids!

Hey bullseye670. The thread is completely hijacked, so what the heck. Your post about trying to build stuff as a kid REALLY struck home with me. For me it was a 26" bicycle frame , a couple of wheels off of a wagon, and a two stroke engine that actually started and ran. That's as far as I got. Now 63 years later,
( I'll turn 75 in about 6 weeks ) I think I have more fun today with the stuff then I ever could have back then. Wife of 50+ years wants to know when I'm going to grow up. Been trying to think of how to answer that one for quite a while now.

It's still kinda on topic. I started this go kart passion when I decided to(about a year ago) do something with an old power washer that had a good Honda gx200. I did some research on the engine builds and proceeded to purchase a ****load of parts. It came out pretty nice, but I have yet to put it on something. Was going to put it on a Boonie Bike I bought for me 31 year old son many years ago but then winter hit. Somehow I switched to go karts and now I'm building 390's. My wife's pretty understanding. It's keeping me real busy.

Well I have ridden and still ride motorcycles. Been doing that since ‘66. Now I am venturing into the go-kart thing. Not sure where it will go or for how long but it’s fun. Gives me something to do when the weather is crap. Think I might even build me a little dirt track on my property to play on.

I've had the motorcycles as well. I do love it. I don't ride anymore due to the idiots on the road. It wouldn't be bad where I live(out in the country) but those city streets, no thanks. Yea, I'm building yard karts. I've got 11 acres, combination of field, woods and hills. I'm going to take the tractor and brush hog a trail through the woods when the weather thaws.( I'm shooting more for massive torque rather than Top speed right now).
