Hey everyone, I’m pretty new to the go kart game. I got a go kart a few months ago for doing some side work and the guy couldn’t finish paying me so I got this kart out of it. Was fun to ride , but I’m pretty sure the motor is done in it now. I don’t know anything about the kart such as model or anything but I’m looking for ideas for a new motor on it. It had a 125cc motor and it was ok but I’d like to go bigger. Looking to roughly triple the power. Do any company sell motors and converters as kits or where should I start. Looking for electric start , not really opposed to either 4 stroke or 2 just would like some reliability with the power. I know how to weld so if the motor is different size and I need new motor mounts and some fabrication to where the motor sits that’s fine.

Good looking kart, definitely deserves a working motor. The standard go-to on this forum is most often the Predator 4-stroke OHV engines from Harbor Freight. I've been using their 212cc 6.5hp.'s (6.5 HP (212cc) OHV Horizontal Shaft Gas Engine, EPA (harborfreight.com) that I've hotrodded up to 15+ hp., but they don't come with electric start. That would be a step up to 420cc 13hp. 13 HP (420cc) OHV Horizontal Shaft Gas Engine, EPA (harborfreight.com) engines to have the electric start.
TC/CVT's (Torque Converter/Constant Variable Transmission) (same thing) are recommended for gokarts. The 212's call for a common 30 series CVT Go Kart Torque Converter Clutch Kit for 10T #40#41#420 and 3/4" 12T #35 2HP-7HP | eBay , while the 420's need a 40 series. 40 Series Torque Converter Driver Driven Clutch Kit Go Kart Pulley 9HP-16HP 6923487092341 | eBay
