Hello from NC.

Been reading the forums for a while. Good info and I can contribute help as well.

Currently been putting together an old rear-engine race kart I bought off CL for $70, engine from ebay for $50, and other misc parts for about $60. Runs ok, but need to get some new wheels for it. Not sure what model frame it is, but will post a pic of it later. Also have a modified Dart A-bone with margay wheels I plan to fix up one day for vintage racing maybe. I've had a gokart of some sort in my life every decade of my life since I was a teenager. In the 1980s, my brother and I had the Sears Lime Limo, a really nice 2seater kart with a Tecumseh 5hp electric start. Never ran as well as it should, probably because I did have the needle valves adjusted right.
In the 1990s, I had a manco 2 seater kart that got its fair share of abuse. Put an adjustable sprocket on it and had to have the frame welded 3x around the motor mount since it kept breaking. The frame was twisted from jumping it so it turned one way better than the other. Eventually converted it to center steering and still sold it to a guy that was gonna fix it up! Later got a single-seater Streaker for $130 with a stuck valve. Just took the head off and pushed it down and it ran fine after that. That kart was fun! Fairly fast and used a #41 chain which I never had to fiddle with. So much better than 35 chain!
Sold it since it needed a new floor pan. Should have kept it.
In the 2000s, I had my A-bone that I got working once. Was fun on grass with its slick tires. Now I've got this new kart I will fix up and enjoy, then I'll eventually sell it.
I'm still running an old B&S 5hp since they are cheap and ez to work on, although parts are getting tough to find.
