Hey guys! I'm new to karting. My brother and I just started racing cars and we've come to learn how expensive it really is. I came up with the idea of supplementing karting into our hobby to reduce costs of travel, track fees, tires, etc.

Before I can pull trigger on this idea, I need to learn as much as I possibly can about karts. I need to learn about Karting Associations, which leagues they have, if I can build my own kart for the leagues or if I have to buy an already made kart, how many tracks in NY are there for karts, how much do the track days costs, how much do tires costs, etc. Basically, I have a lot of questions!

I typed "Go Kart Forum" in google to start my search and this was the first place that came up! Hopefully I'll learn a lot from you guys, and hopefully i'll be able to pass my new found education on.

There's a lot to learn about karts, trust me. I went from a little manco fun kart to a Birel racing chassis (Still trying to find an engine).
Karting is so much cheaper than cars. For 2-3K You have a shifter kart that can go 100mph easily, and the effect in a go kart is so much more thrilling. And the handling is awesome.

I suggest buying an already-made racing chassis with a fast engine (Check Craigslist). Or you can spend $400-$800 on a simple kart and make something that can reach 60mph and go off-road. XD
