I love motorcycles, especially the 70's xs650 yamahas. I have 4.
Wait, this comes into play later.
I was cruising google images one night, and ran across wheel barrow hot rod.
Hmmmm...says I. I also have a wheel barrow, built a couple motorcycle frames, have a 1980 Yamaha engine (with electric start) very mechanically inclined, Welder/fabricator, plenty of mc parts laying around.
So Im noodleing thru my pea brain about a death machine with a 45 hp twin motorcycle engine front and center, stretched frame with tub from a wheel barrow.
I can pretty much come up with the mechanicals for everything, but one thing eludes me.
How do I make a solid front end with steering wheel centered, and still go around the engine?
Im thinking cheap orieleys manual rack from a small Nissan nx, actual car spindles, and of course gold chain steering wheel.
I plan on using a quad rear. at first I was going to do a live axle, but I would like it to turn whithin a 1/4 mile. lol
as far as brakes, maybe only the disk on the quad rear will be good enuf and that would help clean up the front end. Of course if I use actual car spindles, use corresponding disk brakes.
If there is something obvious im missing let me know. Im at the very beginning of this build.
As far as the xs650 motor, its air cooled, twin over head cam, easy to work on, and I plan to use the starter.

That's a 1971 I picked up for $3000. One a tad more perfect went for $7000, a few months ago. That's not the motor im using of course, the motor I am using is from a abandoned chopper project with a twisted hard tail, so I have a extra engine just laying around. looks the same.
I hope to get along here. I love the vbulletin format.
