Well I am new to karts, but not new to speed. I picked up this(what i believe to be) shifter kart chassis with 5hp Briggs motor. Long story short, I blew up the motor! I've been looking around and I think I may go with the HF 6.5 clone. For the price, It cant be beat.

Nice kart. You will probably do well with a 6.5HP. I am not too sure if it will bolt right up without any fab work, but it shouldn't be too hard.

Heck, for even more bang per buck, look for a Briggs flatty cheap on Craigslist or similar, then transfer the surviving go-fast parts from that engine (carb, header, flywheel? etc).

Or if you do go with a HF Predator (which isn't a bad idea), sell parts off that engine to offset the cost.

I ended up finding a new 6.5 predator motor that has been modified. Here •are the details.

Honda 18lb Valve Springs
-Valve Lash Set for advanced timing

•Performance High Flow Exhaust Pipe

•Removed entire Governor regulator
- Increased rpms from 5,500 to approx. 7,000

•#90 Main Caburetor Jet (100% clean carb)
-Has a Fuel Cut-Off switch to keep it from clogging

•Comes with inline Fuel Filter & Fuel lines

•Spring throttle linkage set up for direct throttle control
-Also mounted a bracket too hold the throttle cable, cable is also included

•Performance Tornado Air Filter installed in original air filter box

•Installed a new Kill Switch
-The switch can be located anywhere you want it too be

•Disconnected Oil Sensor Cut-Off system
-So the motor doesn't shut down while making turns

I have alot of experience with these motors and based on my knowledge this motor is making up too 9hp and approx 7500rpms.

I see you have not touched the internals or gotten billet parts. With the governor removed, as well as 18lb valve springs, you had better be sure to get them quickly before you ruin your engine
