Hey all.. first off, NICE WEBSITE

I am NEW to gocarts. I just snagged up a couple projects though...

a skeeter with a 18hp VANGAURD
a two seater small cart
and 1 seater small cart


I also TODAY picked up a 8hp Briggs with 1" shaft.. runs good needs a carb cleaning.

The 18hp wouldnt start when I bought it.. for 75bux!! I took the carb off cleaned it reset the float. cleaned EVERYTHING. bypassed the cutoff solinoid, and it fires up and runs GREAT

I will post pics shortly... anyways I will have TONS of questions..

1st off my 18hp vanguard has SEVERE blowby out the breather on top of engine????

motor RUNS GREAT (lil bog off idle) but runs

whats causing this?? broken ring? has good compression doesnt smoke just pukes OIL

2nd the 18hp wont idle low enough to keep Torqu converter from spinning.. tried idle screw, if I pull OUT on the governer arm it idles down???? hard to explain

3rd.. it has DUAL disc brakes, I am gonna shorten the "tie rod ends" on the brakes to adjust the brakes.. good idea or NO??

Im sure its not anything to do with rings it has to do with the spot were the timing chain comes up and is spitting oil in the valve cover take the cover off and see if theres oil build up in there.

i belive there may be a adjustment for the toruqe a verter clutch pully mabey tighten the spring up a bit?

if the brakes work leave them thats the way i look at it.

Oil is coming out the breather tube that hooks to the air cleaner..

I routed that to the valve cover that pulls vacuum..

now it pukes oil out of the dip stick grommet on the motor..

also added another spring IDLES GREAT NOW...

removed 22" tires and wheels on back and put on Golf Cart wheelsand tires 18"

still in my opinion it needs MORE bottom end.. it ran 25mph with 22's and of course LESS NOW
