New guy here - Bar Stool Kart - that’s my plan.

Hello from SC!
I can weld. I can repair old cars and trucks. I can learn stuff. I will succeed but good advice is always the shortest path to success.
I have the funds but didn’t pull the trigger on buying anything until I do my research. Well, I do have a nice Briggs & Stratton 10HP side shaft engine to power the kart.
Any advice on wheel base and axle width?

Don’t have any advice in length or width. But I have fallen off a few barstools in my day and I say don’t make ‘em so high.

Welcome! If it were me, I would make the length around 42" and the width 36". These number are completely arbitrary. Honestly the width would be dictated by the availability and price of axles, again if it were me.

I will definitely want the wide racing style wheels and tires with the three hole bolt pattern. I can build my own frame. I guess I need to decide on axle width nd clutch and sprocket. My 10 hp Briggs & Stratton engine has a 1 inch shaft. The kits sold on Amazon seems to be poor quality. I have started looking at vendors who sell their axles and individual components. About double the price, but hopefully less headache.

This is the goal (internet pic), but with a lower seat and shorter steering column for an overall lower center of gravity. For me, the wheels and tires make the statement I’m looking for!
