Need help identifying spring

I recently bought a trail master XRX/R and the belt, shredded, and ripped out a spring, and I cannot figure out what it goes to in the engine. It is a. 170F 7.0 engine.

You are correct, that was a spring. I have nothing intelligent to add.

Can you show us where it ripped out from and pics of the buggy? Pics help more than anything else and seem to jar people's brains.

That spring looks like the one on my grandmother's screen door.

Looks like the spring from the inside of a radiator hoses.
I bet someone ran it over and it went for a ride.

Maybe that spring got picked up and is what caused the shredding of the belt?

Does the engine still run OK? That spring does not look like a normal engine part to me. If it didn't come from the throttle/governor linkage, I suspect is was thrown up from the ground.
