I have been looking for an air compressor for a while
so this week end i go on Gumtree (Aussie craigslist) and se a few deals
the best being a long way away
the full story is in the "Have u ever" thread but basically i drove a 3hr round trip to achieve nothing
that was Saturday morning gone
later that day i went and looked at two small 25 litre compressors
$50 ea
thought that wasn't too bad
show up and one is missing a load of bits and wouldn't even try to turn over
the other, clearly sounds seized
i told him id take both for $30
i pulled the head off the seized one and put 1/2 a litre of waste oil on the piston and left it
the one with missing bits i try to fire uo but on inspecting the pressure switch shes toast wired a lamp switch into it and the motor/compressor are good
go back to the seized one and put a 24 inch shifter on the motor shaft
well its not seized any more runs great now after an oil change
they make good compressors but have F/A output
so ill flog them off
should get $100 for the good one
and illpart the junk one out
someone wants the air tank for their 4X4 they are giving me $20
someone else has a burnt out motor and wnat my motor for $15
so that turned out good
Then to top in off i find a good deal on a medium sized compressor McMillan mc12 with an mc15 pump
I believe its 15cfm witha 58t tank
this one also works well
It keep up with my air tools like the spray gun and sander
It had an old air fitting in the pump breather so its going to get a DIYGK patented fuel filter breather
The pressure gauge was in kpa which means nothing to me
but luckily one of the 25lt ones had a new psi gauge
It still needs a regulator and water trap
cost me $150
if i ditch these 25lt ones quick i think i can call this whole game a win
EDIT
yes it is chained to a pole
no it wont stop any self respecting thief from using my grinder
but hopefully they'll grab other junk first
