Ok, so on Friday I am picking up the start of my next project from a guy here at work. I only have these two pictures to go by for now but I'm told it will come with an engine (not running), seat, fenders, chains, etc etc. The seller said it doesn't have any markings on it anywhere indicating who made it. He doesn't know much about it, he got it as a basket case a couple of years ago to put back together but never got around to it so he is wanting to unload it. I can't find anything on the web that looks like it so I dunno if it was a factory job or a home brew but it looks like it was done well. The price is right on it so I'm gonna give it a go and see what I can make of it.

Curious if anyone knows what the heck this thing is?? I'll have more pictures and info this weekend of course!

Looks like it runs a jackshaft behind the engine. From talking with him it doesn't sound like it runs a torque converter, sounds like it runs direct drive via a chain, he wasn't sure about a clutch, thinks its just a sprocket & chain. He says the motor is a 5hp B&S, but says the person he got it from said the engine was bad.

I definitely think you're correct on the Rupp! I didn't know what to search for specifically when googling so I never ran into those. Searching for Rupp pulls up quite a few that are close. One thing that I don't see a match for is the brake pedal and linkage setup. I'm wondering if that might have been added. I also notice the headlight brackets look different.

I should have more info tomorrow when I pick this thing up, IF I pick it up. The seller now seems to be teetering a little bit on getting rid of it. We'll see how it goes..

Well the seller followed through and we made the deal. I got the rolling chassis, twist throttle and cable, the front brake lever perch (no lever), seat, a home made rear fender on the factory bracket, a bent jackshaft, a max torque clutch, a giant sprocket, two chains and an old bad (not original) motor. Oh and a really crappy green spray paint job on EVERYTHING! Not bad for $40.

The rear foot pedal brake is definitely home made and while not the best job, it is actually decently done. The make shift kick stand is pretty hokey, I'm hoping I can do something else with it since the mount tab was welded on.

Needs lots of love, but seems like a heck of a good start. I'm thinking this one is gonna be a good candidate for predator. I like the setup a lot better then the little hoop framed doodlebug style, thats just my preference though, nothing wrong with those. A suspension will be nice though for me riding it!

Anyway, here are some pics of it all.

since the JS does not sit at the pivot point of the swing arm...
an overly tight chain and a deep pothole driven by a chubby rider (or worn out suspension) may have exerted enough force to bend the JS a good amount.

not preventing it to rotate properly and trying to bend it back... can add another few degrees of offset ;)

we'll never know though ;)

lol actually thats AFTER I put it in the vice and straightened it out some. No idea what happened to it.

The seller did say the motor it came with was ran without oil and seized so not sure of the damage extent there.

It also turns out this thing isn't a Rupp after all. I found out it was actually originally sold as an aftermarket roller. Somewhere around 1973, a Gemini SST Scrambler B-4.

I guess it was a Rupp clone sold without a motor so you could add your own.
