My new rc f1 car

just thought i share my latest rc purchase with ye. Its a nikko evolution bmw f1 car. I had usually stayed away from these type of rc cars but it was only £7.50 with slight damage to the front left hand side wishbone. It runns off a 7.2v battery pack.

When buying it i was not too sure if it was any good so i took a look on the web and one site said they were capable of 25mph.

Out of all my rc cars/buggy's its certainly one of the fastest.

It was a great bargin though shipping killed the deal, its 2.5kg.
It has a very low ground clearance so its really only suited to flat surfaces.

Anyone else here into rc cars/buggys?

Hey Kieran, I used to race electric R/C cars at a track here. I never ran any of the Nikko products but I raced Losi and Team Associated cars in the off road and paved oval race classes. These R/C cars are pretty dam cool right out of the box but I was amazed at how many adjustments and mods you can do to further improve their handling and performance.

yeah i am i got a nitro rs4, a nitro rs4 3 evo, a tmaxx the old one with the trx 2.5 nitro engine, and i have a rush with a .12 engine? cant remember then i got one electric stamped.

i used to be into planes. then i bought a traxxas nitro 4tec, 4wd. pushbutton start and 2 speed tranny. i couldn't tell you 0-60mph times, but it was hella fast. when i got mine it was guaranteed 60+ out of the box. why can't we get that f1 here at radioshack. all they sell here is junk (nikko).

you know, they used to have rail dragsters that were r/c. you could stick one of these clones on there, and just punch the throttle. that would be a nice r/c car!!

I never did get into nitro rc cars, (so far anyway). My opion on rc cars/buggys is that battery powered motors are easier to work with, but thats just me. I recently bought a hitari turbo king with a 6v battery pack and it was one of the worst rc's i ever bought so i took an 9v motor and put in in and with a few electronic component changes and had it running off a 9.6v battery pack. It has alot more power now.

As for go kart's its the opposite, I would always use a briggs or honda but never brushless motors.

i took one of these 20 dollar r/c boats from wal-mart, i was going to install either a skyfly's motor(340?) or a cobalt motor i got cheap. i could never figure out what size esc i needed, but i figured since both motors ran on a 35a, i would get one that had reverse. still sitting waiting to be realized. it is a wakeboard boat. i have the skyfly's battery along with a 9.6 nimh pack and some others. i have a gws 4ch with a berg reciever that i had for my gws 262. did you guys ever see on afv how they baited an r/c boat and caught a decent sized fish? the fish yanked the boat under, but it stayed good. i think it was about a 12" fish?

hey that's my kind of fishing! get a bigger boat and catch marlin! does your battery's placement affect the balance of the vehicle when you jump it?

no, you would think it would but it was always heavier at the back so know it equals out. Its really hard to tell weather the battery pack has any difference during jumps, because with the 6v setup it would not be jumping as fast as the 9.6v.

On my first test drive I was not used to the speed, i had it flat out and the wheels were moving faster than the motor (which the brakes are worked off by quickly jumping from forward to reverse), the braking could not kick in and she went into a wall.The only damage to it was the retaining screw,it got buckled.

I have it set up so that if it hits a all the bumper will act as suspension and suppress the force coming against the battery.
