Maybe can get a little help here. New to forum and this is me and my fiancés project kart. It has gone thru plenty of build ideas from yard/garden kart to drift kart. Decided to mix the two and now we are here at this point. Son it will be getting a live axle swap from my other race kart. Going with 6 inch wheels and tires. My question is what’s a good gearingnwith a torque converter? And also will it be easier to fiberglass over my mold or should I use aluminum? Thank you!

You don’t have a mold, use aluminum. I have no idea what you are trying to accomplish with the kart. So I won’t recommend anything as far as gearing goes.

It is a predator 212. I’m not looking for anything crazy. This will be going to car shows and events like that next year. As far as testing just want it to be able to do a donut here or there. And using aluminum is what I was thinking. Does anyone know anyone from Wisconsin who can assist with that?

If you want it to do donuts, you will need some low end grunt. A 30 series torque converter will give you that. Most people run a 10 tooth sprocket driving a 60 tooth on the axle. With the smaller back tires you have, a 60 might not give you much ground clearance. Get as close to a 60 as you can.

So I have a 30 series converter already so the question will be how much clearance I will have. Will something 50-60 be ok with 6 inch wheels?

Got more of a general ideal of how I wanted to form the body.
