I only did the rectifier for now, I found the video below from THIS forum which shows even more mods but not how to install. I plan to add capacitors and the transformer later. My brother in law just came over and we mod'd his older HF flux. WAY WAY WAY better now. He wanted his rectifier in the "upper deck" of the welder. He frequently welds with the lid open so heat shouldn't be an issue. I had him lay down some beads in front of me. The welder is performing better than ever and I was able to critique his technique and he was instantly improving his craft. We also did the easy mod of moving the input power cable to the back of the welder.

Funny I didn't see this before.

I had that HF welder for year's, I gave it to my brother about a year ago, he's still using it.

It works great on medium thicknes thing's, not so fabulously on sheetmetal, but it is manageable for short burst. I upgraded to the 180a model when I got into sheetmetal repairs on my restoration projects though.

I agree the Lincoln wire makes a huge difference, and there's also some anti-splatter gel that help's if you need thing's to be pretty.
