Some time ago, my brother decided to replace his lawn edger with a cheap chinese machine (pics 1 & 2). Around the same time, I was searching for a small 4 stroke engine to suit an upcoming build; I eventually found one but, it was attached to a lawn edger & came as part of a package which included two other bodies.
My first thought was "what the heck am I gonna do with these edger bodies? Then my brother started complaining about his new edger simply not working as it should; for starters, the wheels were too small & simply sunk into the grass &, when it did decide to move, it wouldn't cut properly...
Upon inspection, the first thing I noticed (apart from the tiny wheels & cheap chinese construction) was the engine was facing the wrong direction; instead of the engine turning the blade into the ground leading edge first, it was turning the blade trailing edge first (that's chinese engineering for you...)
Just then,
(you can see where I'm going with this, right?)
Now, I wasn't gonna simply bolted his engine on my cruddy, old edger, that would've looked less than impressive & porbably would've got me a look of "wtf?" from my brother so, I set about stripping & cleaning my edger in preparation for a repaint & rebuild.
I chose the best of all the parts so, the old edger is the same as but, doesn't look as bad as the one in the pics...
Everything is cleaned &, apart from a light scuff, ready for paint... & then the clouds rolled in...
