For the most part, I don't follow any type of sports unless they're the local starter league team's. In principal, I'm rooting for the Cub's; the problem is, seeing as this is game 7, I have to ask a question......

With the world series over, what are we going to have as a distraction between now and the ninth? I can barely watch TV just to see the weather, let alone anything else at the moment. Listening to the radio is no better. Even you tube is getting ugly..... :surrender: :surrender: :surrender: :surrender:

My first Cubs game was in 1969 where they lost to the Mets in the playoffs. I have been to about 25 or more home games, every time they lost. Every time I watched the Cubs on tv they lost. I watched the first game of the World Series and guess what happened, yup they lost and then dumped 2 more when I watched those. The games I did not watch yup they won For the last 47 years I kept rooting for the Cubs anyway even though I figured I was their "bad luck charm". But tonight all that changed I finally saw my Cubs win.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS THE CHICAGO CUBS!

At the time it was named there was still something called
American Exceptionalism. A very cool thing where Americans did not
believe that other nations existed or mattered. The world revolved around
us. Hence the "World Series"
and you answered your own question.
Nobody else played this game. But now the Japanese and several S American and Carribean nations do.

I think they even play games outside the US now anyway. Few years back the Twins had a player from Japan, who was cheaply beamed in the leg by I think the Cheating Yankees...

Have to say Congrats to the Cubs for the win...108 years in the making. Too bad it wasn't last year against Miami...the irony would have been sweet.

first off I'm not a big baseball fan. while watching the game i looked up salaries. they make millions! Cubs make more then the Indians though. cubs max is around 20mill and indians max is like 8 mill. should of played sports as a kid!!!

Anyways, Oh man great game. extra inning tied 6 6. I was not for either side. Would be cool for Indians or Cubs to win. Really good game to watch though. I was up and standing the entire end of the game.

I heard it was because, in the early days, it was sponsored by the New York World newspaper but, apparently, there is some dispute over this; however, at the time of its creation, USA was the only country to play major league baseball...
