im new and making my first off road cart and i have an old
185 cc motor from my 3 wheeler, and i was wondering if that would work to make a fast off road cart.

i was also wondering if it would be better to buy a 250 cc 3 wheel engine for 100 bucks..

so basicly will the 185 work and be strong enough for a one seater cart or should i save up and dish out the money for the bigger engine ?

185 is plenty. Is the 250 a 2 or 4 stroke?

Your kart will be at least as fast as your ATC was......(if geared right) Those big spongy tire soak up lots of top speed. My Honda ATC 185 clocked in at 50mph.... and it's not the in the healthiest shape!

haha yea i guess thats true .. and it runs but it hasnt been driven in a few years ... tires got shreded

do you know where i can find new atc tires ?

i hope you would know if its 2 or 4 stroke! lol

if you have to mix oil with the gas, its 2 stroke..
if you have to change the oil in the crankcase, its 4 stroke.


running straight gas in a 2 stroke would have bad results... lol

haha yea well i know the 185 is 4 stroke but idk about the 250 cause i dont have it id have to buy it

ohh, ok. i didnt put it all together lol

but the person selling it should know, ask them about it if you can.

personally, i wouldnt spend good money to buy an engine (or equipment) from someone who doesnt know that basic info about it...

though i would take equipment that doesnt work for free (or super-cheap), and either get it working, or use it for parts/scrap. got all sortsa cool stuff that way! :arf:

well i think im gunna stick with the 185 and its got reverse so thats cool....

yea free stuff always is cool and if you cant get it working then it can always be sraped for somthing lol
