Predator 420 with about 20 hours total, and 4 hours on THIS oil change.

Is this much magnetic black goo normal?

Stock except main jet and air filter.

I don't know what picture # 1 is. But in picture #3 looking into the sump of your block, I have encountered the same looking goo in brand new predators that I have pulled apart prior to ever being started. I have read that they test run every engine before shipping it. Then they drain out the oil and box it up. For the 10 or 15 seconds they run it for I can only imagine what they use for oil. Probably already been used in 100 other engines. I think if you clean everything up
( I like to use alcohol ) before adding fresh oil, you'll be fine.

Picture one is a magnet that grabbed a bunch of that stuff.

-but you've seen that black stuff before so that's a good sign. I'll clean it good and check again after a few hours. Thanks

Ok, update: Cleaned it out, ran it a while, opened it back up and its all gone.

I ended up with an enormous amount of that crap. Like a small marble sized glob on my magnet. Cannot believe they leave that in there.

FUN FACT: You HAVE to use a gasket (the correct one!) on these engine's crankcase cover, not gasket maker like you see the big fella on Youtube use. Using only gasket maker clamps the cover too tight on the balance shaft and cam and causes everything else in there to bind up.

Lol, unless I have a unicorn with absolutely perfect tolerances.

At the factory they just pull the drain plug after the short test run. When the goo stops running out they put the drain plug back in and put the engine in a box. Big blocks hold more oil, so the puddle of nasty stuff left on the bottom is probably bigger.
