Insurance claims anyone?

If your go kart slams into a parked car, who pays? Anybody have any first hand experience with insurance claims related to go karts? Personal injury or otherwise?

I'm going to have to guess... But it probably depends on your state laws...
I'd say if your the owner and or the driver aswell... You/both are to pay... But that's a guess...

Guess it depends on the situation. If you were hypothetically driving on the street illegally and crashed into a car, the driver's insurance would probably pay to repair their car as if it was a tree falling on it, but then sue you personally (and win) for the damages. Plus you'd probably face criminal charges for operating an unregistered, uninsured vehicle on the road.

If say, a kid hits his dad's car in the driveway, on private property, it would probably just be handled the same way as an act of God claim. Or just denied altogether.

As far as personal injury on your part goes, that would probably fall under your health insurance, just like if you crashed a bicycle or flipped an ATV.

But I don't know for sure.

I was thinking a go kart was more in line with Property coverage. I guess all of these same cases could apply to a riding lawn mower. Like, what if I crash the kart into my own house. lol. Would the home owners insurance buy me a new kart and house repair after the deductible?

I reckon I should call my insurance provider. Maybe they will answer my question as a anonymous caller? Because if they put that question on my file, and then an event/claim happens 4 days later, you know they are going to hang me out to dry.

Nobody's insurance is replacing your go kart.

Your health insurance will cover your hospital bills.

Your homeowners insurance MIGHT cover damage to your house, but might not.

If you hit a car on a go cart not legal for the street, then you are going to get in big trouble I bet LOL. If somebody hit my car on an illegal street cart and my insurance had to pay, I would sue you...as would most people

If someone's car is parked in their driveway and you hit it, you are going to get way sued.

I think you would get sued in pretty much any situation here lol. Unless a kid hits a car and the parents (or go cart owner) wants to just pay for the damages and not bother with insurance.

I am assuming we are talking about small yard carts? The big buggies that are street legal might be a different story here, since they have to be registered and insured to be on the road. Then it would be treated like a regular car accident I would think.

Moral of the story here: unless you have a registered and insured street legal go cart, don't drive on the street and don't hit anything

Wooooow telling the OP to perform a hit and run? That would be a felony I would imagine.

Interesting question...if I was driving my car and a minibiker/go cart hit it and tried to run away, could I catch them and run over something to get them to stop?

2 wrongs don't make a right, but hey, they shouldn't be running away to begin with

Good times in this thread. I just pictured an old person on a wheel chair scooter trying to do a hit and run. What got me thinking of this was seeing golf karts rolling around a neighborhood nearby.
