im new to motors need help

hi im trying to build or buy a motor that will be able to move about 70 kg of weight i want to keep the motor as small as possible but so far i been un able to work it out can any1 help me

is it for a kart?, is it an engine or an electric motor? the harbour freight clones are capible of pushing 70kg around easily, 6.5 hp ect, or better still buy yourself a good old reliable briggs.

well its going to be and electric motor and i hav'nt quite decided what its pushing yet i was thinking either a small bike or a kart either way its gonna be light weight frame so is it a 6.5 hp engine i need to look for cos i been looking at torque and rpm's

Many people still rate el. motors in HP (and many sites that sells it too, taking advantage of people's ignorance - 2 HP sounds better than 0,464 KW). Relation between KW and HP (for electric motor) isn't the same as it is with ICU , because of efficiency (roughly said: IC engine has efficiency of 25% and electric motor around 80% - it is generalization , depending on motor type).
So , what you really need is motor that has 1000 - 1200 W (1 or 1,2 KW).

the 6.5 hp engine that was ment as a new question i.e is it a 6.5 i need? as i said i am very new to this lot but i am making an electric motor for it so i was wondering what kind of motor i needed in order to keep it as small as possible
