I found this drill press on CL for $100. Came with a 3 clamps for the table. Also the guy tossed in a nice bench vise. It is a 16 speed older HF brand. Perfect for what I will use it for. I really like the two clamps on the table. It moves both up and sideways.

Then I made a dual grinder stand for my grinders. At first I used a 2" pipe and gots lots of vibration. I then used a big hunk of 1/4" thick square pipe. Little viration now.

Here some pics.

I think that could also be used as a milling vise. If you get some milling bits, you can then put them into the chuck and use the table adjustment and that vise to double your drill press as a makeshift mill.

That neve crossed my mind. Thanks, I do have some milling bits. I will give it a try and see what happens.

Not at all. Drill press's are no where near rigid enough to be used as a mill, and on top of that, theres a chance of bending a spindle if you put too much pressure.

You may be able to make some funky little parts, but you you couldn't safely run anything bigger than say a 1/4" end mill, and you will never be able to machine an accurate piece.

Just an idea. I know that mills are much heftier but for shaving a bit off, crank up the speed and remove as little as possible each pass.

I will sure to give it a try. I got some big chunks of plexi glass I have been looking at.

What I like about the clamps is how easy it is to set up. I just clamp the part into the vice. Then use the clamps to line up the punch hole.

Very nice score- I really like the cross-slide vise. They make it so much easier to line up the drill, I have got to get one! Enjoy!

PS- You're probably OK for milling your plexi, and maybe soft materials like brass and aluminum. I don't think a standard drill press' design will tolerate much sideloading. Not only will the spindle be unhappy, I don't think the bearings are up to it either.
