i am in high school and interested in building a go kart capable of at least 35mph. I have no background in go kart building. one of my teachers is helping me and my friend build one though. He found a 91 hp motorcycle engine and have no idea what to do with it.

lolz, 35mph eyy. I said i wanted to go that fast as well but ive hardly pushed 25mph on mine although im not a real rev head. Welcome to the site XD.
