Just recently got a kart kit to build for my son. I have zero experience whatsoever but have worked on cars before so i could turn some wrenches. Got my kit from gopowersports, a bit expensive but im happy with it. They missed basically most the most crucial hardware so had to go by my own and sort of rig things to work. All in all,the kart is running but turns like junk lol.

Being new to karts maybe this is something normal, the live axle pushes forward which makes turning hard. I basically cant turn the wheel more than 45 degrees each way without just plowing. Any ideas? I have right now toe in about 1/8".

I am not good with steering I have the same problems with my karts. My solution was to just slide the back end around, but I’m running on dirt.

I moved the tie rods to the 3rd slot on the steering rack which has a lot less leverage and made things a lot smoother. In the pictures above you could see they're on the lowest slot.

BTW - I missing the seat which should be arriving tomorrow along with the brake caliper.

i think if you cut the front spindle brackets off and tilted them in few degrees and welded them back on it would help lift the inside wheel when turning. but wait for someone who knows more than me to verify. welcome to the forum

So add a bit of negative camber on the front? I don't have access to welding equipment but may so in the near future. Thanks for the the suggestion. With the changes i reported above i have a feeling it'll be much better.
The steering inputs are much easier since the ratio was changed, slow movement on the wheels with more steering input so not as twitchy as before.

I think this is the first kit from GPS that we are seeing on the forum. It has been talked about a few times though. What are your impressions of the kart? Anything you think they could have improved on?
