Tecumseh 6 HP. Disc brake on rear. Italian moped gas tank..bicycle seat..the rest is homebuilt. It will do over 50 mph, but is governed down for nine year old.

nice, what sprokets and tire size r u rinning?

16.5" with a 60 tooth.

In its first incarnation, it had a 18.5" rear tire and a GY6 (clone) engine with CVT. My grandson wanted to ride but it was way too fast, so we converted to the Tecumseh with the current set-up. I like it better now. It looks and sounds better, although it is not as quick.

any trouble attaching the gas tank, being italian?

Not that I recall. My son-in-law took care of that part of the deal. I guess you are talking about the fuel line part. The actual mounting of the gas tank was easy. We just welded a couple of u-bolts in the slot under the tank and dropped it over the backbone and bolted it up. I bought two of those tanks off eBay from http://stores.ebay.com/HANDY-BIKES-USA

Sweet looking mini! I'm gathering the parts to build one for my 10 year old son around a 5.5 Intek. How does the size work for the 9 year old? How did you go about building the frame?

The bike handles well for the youngster. This video is of him when he was 8.

I drew the frame to scale using the known size of the wheels/tires. Then I measured angles and distances (I used a CAD program). Then I bent the 7/8"
tubing with a Woodward Fab bender. This is a tubing bender vs a pipe bender and is now available from Northern Tools http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200256024_200256024

so what tubing did you use? Even 16 gauge tube is .065", and that bender says the max is 1.2 mm (.047")

Used 14 gauge (.083 wall) and it was no problem to bend. The bender is very sturdy and I wasn't worried about breaking it. I built a fixture that the bender is bolted to. The fixture fits into the hitch receiver on my truck and I bend in the vertical plane.

Mine does have limitations. 7/8" is the largest round I can bend, and I'll probably never use the smaller sizes. So basically, I bought mine just to be able to bend 7/8" round tubing. Although the bender is sold by Northern Tools, I bought mine from Woodward Fab, after seeing one used on an episode of Trucks.
