Hey everyone, another kart lover here. building my first kart. joined this forum to learn and be part of the community. just need brakes and an engine to finish. kinda confused with engine though. Been thinking about a 13hp clone with 14T clutch. i have a 36T drive sprocket but dont want it burning out every few sessions. im mostly going to use it on a flat race track close to where i live. Cant get my head round this gear ratio stuff though lol. dont want a reduction box as im on abit of a budget. check out my pics. appreciate any help guys

Hi & welcome to the forum...

The first thing I suggest you do is go & read this, it should help you understand gearing a little better...

With your current ratio, you won't burn out the clutch after a few sessions, you'll burn it out after a few seconds; a smidge under 3:1 is way too high, you should be looking at closer to 5:1... which may prove difficult given that your axle sprocket is limited by the size of the wheels...
