New to forums, new to karting.

Picked up a HF Predator 212cc the other day, now time for the frame.
Thinking of going simple, the 2seat kart from THIS site, anyone have measurements and frame material size?

:auto:

EDIT: THIS SITE
http://www.diygokarts.com/kart-plans/frame-2-seat.html

:welcome2: to the forum! For measurements, I would suggest actually sitting on the ground and marking things with chalk around you. There are no specific measurements for that kart you are talking about. (Actually, just thinking about it, I think it was Robert that made that kart.) You can PM him HERE. He might be able to give you the measurements that he used.

For frame material, I would use 1X1" square tubing.

You think live axel would be ok for that? I don't like the idea of one wheel spinning, never have

Now what tires, the little 8" ones or something like 15"? I need some ground clearance but don't want to loose any torque, I want to be able to do some donuts in the dirt. Possible?

That depends on who it's for; for you, live axle is fine but a bit mote work. For kids, dead axle is much better as it will be easier to control

15" tyres won't hurt your torque if you used the correct gearing, plus there's lots of options in between. The wheels used in the tutorial appear to be 10" tyres on 4" rims. If you want a bit more ground clearance, you could try 13" tyres on 6" rims.

where did you come up with that name? I don't mean to sound rude but that is a very unusual name.

the more I think about it, it's awsom!!! :backtotopic:
you can go with bigger tires but you will have to gear lower and with smaller tires you can gear higher.
