Hey,

Thought I'd introduce myself. Dad of 2 from about 30 miles outside London, UK.

I work in IT during the day but also own a pub (classic 16th century type place). Got a (little) bit of land and my two boys have shown a real love for go karts (electric) so I came across this fantastic site whilst looking for info on it.

No project as yet but gathering all the info I can thanks to everyone on here. My idea is a cart that will cope with gentle inclines (currently have a 12V Made-In-China thing and it barely cope with grass let alone undulations)

Hope to get to know you all better in the coming weeks.

Welcome Landlord. Ignore my post in the other thread about you introducing yourself. LOL. I see you figured it all out. There are a few good electric threads and sticky's dealing with electric projects. I think the most important parts are the engine and controller. That is where most people have no clue what to get.

Have a look at some of these

A simple guide to electric motors in karts
http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=9700

Documentation on anything electric
http://www.electricmotorsport.com/store/documentation.php

These threads come from the Helpful Links Sticky HERE . There is a whole bunch of info here that might help

You can also do a search for electric projects. There have been a few good Radio Flyer electric wagons that have been made

I bought a set of paddle tires off a single mom who was just finishing restoring a Volkswagen Beetle. It was cherry. She said she did all of it. Rebuilt the engine and trans and even painted it herself. Chicks got talent to. Only thing I couldn't figure out is how she was single.
