I got a wild hair up my a** a few weeks ago and decided I needed to build something and decided a kart would be most excellent. Never built one, never tried.

So I welded a frame off the top of my head out of 1/2 steel tubing. Kind of resembles some karts I've seen. Pardon no pictures yet.

Went on northern tool and got most everything I am going to need. I can fabricate most parts, but decided that seeing spindles up close would be a better teacher then just winging it.

I have a gx140 motor that runs good, not a beast but I think it will work as a proof of concept. I do believe I messed up on ordering sprockets though. 12t clutch, and a 40t drive sprocket. The kart will be light, as am I, 155 lbs.

Thus thing is going to be rough starting but I'll get a bigger sprocket to fix that.

I've been getting all kind if ideas from you guys. This forum is great, I hope to be able to contribute in some way.

You will need very small tires for that gear ratio, very small. Full heartedly expect for speed. Welcome to the forums.

I think I have a skateboard around here somewhere :p

I'm gonna get a bigger sprocket. One thing I figured out using these forums. I bought the stuff on impulse and too little knowledge. Maybe I can use it for something else.
