(Meant S-465 in title) Howdy! I can across this site looking for information on a vintage streaker I just pulled out of my grandparents shed. Information seems to be pretty scarce so joining the community to help/seek help.
This is a kart from my childhood. A Streaker S-465 Pacesetter SN 86303 with the rebel decal on the floor plate.
Overall, it’s in pretty rough shape. It has the 5 hp Briggs and Stratton (can’t find a model number) fun power motor on it. We managed to get it started and poured some sea foam into the gas tank. It kept stalling out when the gas pedal was pushed. Eventually we let it sit and warm up and then put it on blocks and gave it an “Italian clean out” by gunning it for a minute until it stopped surging and sputtering.
Must have some idle or throttle issues because now it accelerates without the Gas pedal being pressed. Discovered the breaks are shot when they wouldn’t stop the auto accelerate. Had to rely on the kill switch.
Plan now is to bring it back to VA and delve into research on this Briggs small engine. To do:
-oil change
-sea foam flush
-learn about idle/throttle control
-learn about brake replacement
-find the recall axle cover for this model
-deep clean and lubricate all springs/body.
