Been wanting to build a kart for my son for a while and now he's big enough to drive one. I found this frame on facebook and have started acquiring parts.

I have not built something like this before so I'm sure I'll have some questions.
I'm doing something unconventional and using an AC electric motor to drive the wheels which will be powered by a very small small generator. Why? Well I had the motor laying around from a power tool that broke, and I like the idea of the instant torque using an electric motor (but didn't want to deal with buying and charging batteries, and I wanted more run time) and it simplified things with the "gas" pedal since it literally just plugs in (using a variable speed foot controller, like you'd use for a sewing machine).
I've modified the frame a little and will be attaching a swing arm in the back and front so it'll have suspension all around. I already have a question about that here, so any help is appreciated!
