Hey guys,
I might be getting myself a cheap digital camera, because i would like to stop borrowing my parents one.
I would pay about £60 tops ($100) but i can get one used or refurbished.
I have found a few brands such as
Sony
Panasonic
Samsung
Casio
Canon
Nikon.
I like the samsung pl201, but its a bit out of my price range.
What i want:
4x zoom or more,
Maximum 1" thick
8mp or more (preferably 10+)
fast lens would be cool so i could take multishot etc.
Movie mode, of reasonable quality.
Flash

Any ideas or suggestions?

i would think a nikon is out of your price range, but those and a canon would be the best cam.

ive got a sanyo cam that lased about 2 years until it wouldnt turn on anymore.

won a kodak easyshare in an arcade game..... had it for the past 2-3 years and the lens cover broke, so i just ripped it out, and the zoom doesnt work.

everything else i just take from my iphone cause its so easy to send to photo bucket.

I have a fairly old cheap Nikon (cost around $120 in 2000) that's only got 3.1 MP, an extremely slow exposure and 3x zoom. In macro mode I can still get clear pictures of those curly slivers of a hair cut off with a knife (at 1x zoom). So at the very least, they used to have some **** good lenses.

My parents have an Optio that seems to work for them, it's a decent mid range camera.

If you're looking for one online at all, I'd take a look at opticsplanet.com -- I've never got a camera from them, however they have extremely good prices on rifle scopes (I got an LER scope for my Mosin-Nagant for $40, works flawlessly)

Ok thanks.
I will ask my mum if she is willing to give me anything towards it. If not i may go for the cheapest canon compact or a samsung.
I was looking at panasonic lumix's but they are expensive.
I would use the camera on my phone but its about 0.3mp. I may get a blackberry but the camera is still pretty bad. Was considerin the new ipod touch but the camera on that is only about 0.7mp, so i figured i would get a cheap camera.

Thats quite a good price! I will look into it in the uk.
Looked at a few basic canons, all about £50.
I would prefer to spend less though, unles my mum will chip in.

Edit: the easyshare c183 is about £45 in the uk cheapest. However its a little bit thick (30mm)
I do like the easyshare feature tho.
