First off, thank you nedfunnell for your comprehensive guide to motors. It helped us (my son and I) decide on a 36 volt motor out of a 1969 Taylor Dunn golf cart (we acquired cheap on Craigslist). We are also using the frame from an old riding lawn mower (inverted).
I'm looking for some assistance on how to remove the Forward Reverse switch from the attached diagram. In the photo you'll notice the S1 S2 A1 A2 posts on the GE motor. It's my understanding the S1 can be wired directly to the positive and S2 can be wired directly to negative, from the batteries. Can I jump S1 to A1 for a consistent forward motion? Would a modern controller eliminate my confusion? Any detailed explanation would be greatly appreciated.
